Jungle Book

"Vive la Revolution!"

The 2006 version of The Revolutionaries was the very happy winner of the World Championships.

Ilya Filimontsev carved the Mowgli segment, with Baloo the bear and Bagheer the panther. David created the very expressive monkey family and our friend from Montana, Bill Dow, created the fine tiger, Sher Khan. Peter did the ruins in the jungle, with Ka sticking his head from the foliage.

In the final hours of the contest, all four managed to create a unifying landscape, which brought the piece all together.

Our European friends beside us had the misfortune of a big collapse with their piece depicting a sculptor's studio. On the other side, Marc and Brett were also fighting collapses, but carried off their scene of a movie being made of an attack on a castle quite well, and won second prize, along with their team-mates, Calixto, JP and David.

Third went to the Sand Boxers' Cirque de Sand at another well run World Sand Sculpture Championships. Our hats off to Bob and his whole crew for the fine organization of the event.
