Sandcastle

Each summer, the Slocan Valley Recreation Commission puts on a very popular event called the “Poker Float”. Over 200 people come and spend up to five hours floating down the beautiful and meandering Slocan River, collecting cards at designated stops along the way.

I thought it would be a fine addition to build a poker themed castle on its own sand “inner tube” at the beach where we all set off. Thanks to Lesley’s sister and her family for helping shovel up the sand and to Rabia and Lesley for their castle-carving assistance. The castle stood for two weeks, until some youngsters decided to knock it over.
