We decided to try something
new this year and entered the team contest instead of all going solo.
Our Russian friends, Alexey Shchitov and Ilya Filimontsev, were also eager to work with us,
and it turned out to be a good idea.
They carved the fine figures of the piece, ranging from the muscular guard to the lovely Sheherezade and the paunchy king. David worked on the delicately pierced wall sections and Peter created the minaret standing above the middle eastern village. There were some communication challenges, but we were all happy with the result and hope to work together again in the future.Sand Boxers from Victoria won First and People's Choice, while the Jobson Jiblets from all over Europe won 3rd for their lovely piece, Design Council.
