sculpture honours the power of literacy.
A woman sits reading, absorbed in the world to which a book has magically taken her. |

The breeze plays in her hair, and ruffles the pages of her book. She does not notice that a page is loose, and has blown out entirely, for her attention is diverted by a gentle touch on her shoulder. Imbued with the mystery and magic of a story, the errant page has transformed in the wind to become a small bird, which she feels landing softly on her shoulder. The power of a book to make thoughts take flight is celebrated in this sculpture. Another moment in time is created in our memory. |
