A Question of Balance

This piece was carved from a block 2.4m wide x 3.6m long x 2.4m high (8’ x 12’ x 8’).  Material removed from between the figures was added to the top, increasing the height to about 13’.

We used the composition of the rabbit balancing on the turtle, and the wide-eyed jester with his finger to his lips as a comment on the state of the universe... and our perception of it.

A Question of Balance
“We sense a moment of balance.
Time pauses.
In an instant, the universe is revealed."

Une Question d’équilibre
“Nous perçevons un moment en équilibre.

Le passage du temps fait la pause.
Dans cet instant, l’universe se révelle.”
