2006 |
Commissioned to create a beach fantasy depicting a sand castle, dragon and
numerous children for the Calgary Stampede. (July) Commissioned to create a sand castle and lighthouse, as well as a portrait of Sir John A. Macdonald for Charlottetown Festival of Lights, Canada Day Weekend. (July) "The Rescue", a sand sculpture by Peter and David wins 3rd prize in the Vancouver Sun Tournament of Champions at Harrison Hotsprings, BC. (May) Commissioned to create a 7' (2.1 m) tall Shiva Linga ice sculpture for the Surrey Hindu Temple. (February) Commissioned to create a snow sculpture on Whistler Mountain as part of Celebration 2010. (February) Invited back to Prince Edward Island for their second Jack Frost Children's Festival. In spite of horrendous weather conditions, we pulled it off! (February) "Blocco Mentale" wins first prize and people's choice at Torino Olympics, Festival of Culture and Art, Italy. (February) |

David and
Peter are invited to do solo sculptures at the 7th Zhoushan International
Sand Festival in Zhoushan, China. (October) "Arabian Nights", by Peter and David with Alexey Shchitov and Ilya Filimontsev (from Moscow), wins 2nd Prize and Sculptors' Choice in the Team Category at the World Sand Sculpture Contest, Harrison Hotsprings, BC, Canada. (September) "Leap of Faith", a 13' (3.8m) sand sculpture by Peter and David, wins 2nd Prize and Sculptors' Choice in the Doubles Category at the World Sand Sculpture Contest, Harrison Hotsprings, BC, Canada. (September) "La Chasse Galerie", a 10' (3m) tall sand sculpture by Peter and David, wins 1st Prize and People's Choice at L'International de Sable Invitational, Quebec City, Canada. (August) "Le Dragon est Mort", an 11.5' (3.5m) sand sculpture by Peter, wins 1st Prize and People's Choice in the Solo Event at L'International de Sable, Quebec City, Canada. (August) "That's Relativity", a sand sculpture by Peter, wins 2nd Prize and Sculptors' Choice in the Solo Event at the Canadian Open Sand Sculpture Contest, Parksville, BC, Canada. (August) "The ride of Your Life", a 10' (3m) tall sand sculpture by Peter and David wins 2nd Prize and People's Choice at Merveilles de Sable, Gatineau, PQ, Canada. (July) Team hired to build snow/ice castle, maze, dragon slide, and mini-golf at First Annual Jack Frost Children's Festival in Charlottetown, PEI, Canada. Event sold out. "Soul Awakening", a 9-ft. (2.7 m) tall snow sculpture by Denis, John and Pat, wins Jury's Prize and Artists' Choice at 5 Continents Japan Cup in Nayoro, Japan. "Mon Pays C'est l'Hiver", and 18-foot (5.4 m) tall sculpture by Peter, Carl and David, wins Jury's Choice and People's and Volunteer's Choice awards at the Canadian Snow Sculpture Championships at Quebec Carnaval. This win also gave us the right to represent Canada at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. Members of the team make our 4th show sculpture at Mt. Taebaek, South Korea. |

2004 |
Five
members of the team were hired to create snow and ice sculptures at
three expositions in Europe: Oberhausen, Antwerp and Eindhoven.
(November)
"Ancestral Memory", a 13-ft. tall sand sculpture by Peter Vogelaar, wins 3rd Prize in the Solo Event at L'International de Sable in Expo Quebec, Quebec City, Canada. (August) "The Best Baby in the World", a 10-ft. tall sand sculpture by David Ducharme and Peter Vogelaar, wins 1st Prize and Peoples' Choice Award at Merveilles de Sable, Gatineau, Canada. (July) "Hang On, Storm on the Home Front", an 11-ft. tall sand sculpture by Peter Vogelaar and David Ducharme, wins 3rd Prize and Peoples' Choice Award in the Doubles Event at L'International de Sable in Expo Quebec, Quebec City, Canada. (~15 tons of sand) "Wind in the Trees" (19 ft. tall) - Silver Medal, Multi-Block Abstract Category, World Ice Art Championships, Fairbanks, Alaska, USA (March). The team also won Bronze and Silver in the Single-Block Abstract Category. "Medieval Merriment " (13 ft. tall) First Prize and People's Choice, BC Snow Sculpture Championships, Silver Star Mountain in Vernon, BC, Canada (February); "Joust", by John and Denis, wins 3rd place. "Paradigm Shift " (18 ft. tall) First Prize, Budweiser International Snow Sculpture Championships, Breckenridge, Colorado, USA (January) - 3rd year in a row. Peter is invited back to Fort St. John to conduct ice carving workshops and commissioned to build a 3-ton wildlife ice sculpture for the city by Rhyason Contracting. John, Denis and Randy invited to create demo sculpture at the Mt. Taebaek Snow Festival for the 3rd year. This year they also worked alongside Korean university students, sharing tools and expertise in making the large, architectural snow features. (January) |

Members of the team carve for the first time in Holland and Germany, as well as returning to Belgium for indoor snow and ice projects. Viewed by over 600,000 paid visitors. (Nov/Dec) "It Could be Wine", a 10-ft. tall sand sculpture by Peter and new teammate, David Ducharme, wins the World Sand Sculpting Championships for doubles at Harrison, BC. (September) "Piano" (3m x 3m x 3.4m) - Second Prize, People's Choice, Nayoro "Japan Cup" International Snow Sculpture Contest, Nayoro, Japan (February) "Wild and Wooly" (4m x 4m x 5.5m tall) People's Choice and Honorable Mention, 6th Canada Snow Sculpture Competition, Ottawa, Canada (February) "Winter Comes" (5m x 3.5m x 4m tall) First Prize and Artists' Choice, 13th Annual Breckenridge International Snow Sculpture Championships, Breckenridge, Colorado, USA (February) "Inuk and the Dancing Bear" (3.5m x 3.5m x 5m tall) Team invited back to represent North America creating a demonstration sculpture at Mt.
